Off to a flying start...

It has been an absolute flyer of a start to the sporting season for the teams we are proud to support. We are still buzzing from James Shanes’ (smiley-racing) fantastic victory at the Ledbury grasstrack course, a brilliant display of skill and speed that really set the tone for the months ahead. The winning streak continued on the greens, too. A massive congratulations to the Blackmoor Golf Club Scratch team for their hard-fought 7-5 away win against Rowlands Castle. Securing a victory in the Beckford Bowl, a prestigious and notoriously tough 36-hole knockout competition across the South of England. Stellar Despatch..18 years in the making

Today marks a massive milestone for Stellar Despatch as we officially hit our 18th birthday. In the UK, this usually means one thing: heading straight to the pub to exercise our newfound rights.

While we’ve spent the morning wondering if we can still pull off a "big night out," the reality is a little different. Instead of nursing a hangover or queuing for a club, we are doing what they’ve done for the last eighteen years, ensuring your urgent deliveries arrive exactly when they should.

Thank you to everyone for sticking with us. We’re officially an adult, highly experienced, and ready for whatever the next eighteen years throw at us.

Our Easter competition is underway

The cat is out of the bag....or should that be the rabbit is out of the hutch!

We have sent an email to our customers and potential customers, with the above picture, and asked them to count the number of Easter eggs there are in the van, reply to the email with that answer and, if correct be entered into the draw to win some Easter goodies.

The winner will be "drawn from the hat" on Wednesday, 1st April and delivered to the lucky winner the Thursday before the Easter break.

How the weather affects our roads

As of late February 2026, the state of roads in the South of England are experiencing significant disruptions due to a surge in potholes, caused by an exceptionally wet January and subsequent freeze-thaw conditions.

Potholes are on the increase: Local councils, particularly in the South East and South West, have seen a dramatic rise in reports. For example, East Sussex reported over 3,700 pothole reports in January 2026, compared to 2,300 in January 2025.

"Whack-a-Mole" Repairs: ("whack-a-mole repair" refers to fixing one issue immediately and causes another to pop up elsewhere, often due to complex, underlying, or recurring problems). Councils are struggling to keep up with the backlog of potholes appearing, often using temporary repairs in winter, with plans for permanent resurfacing in warmer weather.

There appears to be a long-term strategy with road industry bodies urging councils to shift away from reactive pothole patching to preventative maintenance, such as surface dressing, which saw a 15% rise in 2025. Trials of new technology, such as thermal patching (which re-bonds existing asphalt using infrared heat), are planned for spring 2026 to speed up repairs.

You can report potholes to the local council and/or the National Highways, via their websites. You can also warn other drivers through using apps such as Waze and Fix My Road, when safe to do so.

You should be checking your tyres regularly if you are driving in a known pothole area, as these can seriously damage them. Leaving a larger gap between you and the vehicle in front, gives you a greater reaction time to safely avoid the worst of them.

Even though these things are beyond our control, due to it being mainly nature driven, Stellar are still meeting all our goals on deliveries for customers.

Stellar Despatch team step up to help others

Today we delivered 9 bags of food to our local foodbank, at Wecock Church, Waterlooville. Leanne and Ade delivered the items and were in awe of the team of people creating Christmas boxes for those families that may otherwise have missed out this year. There was an amazing buzz and positivity about the place.

We want to thank our colleagues and customers who also made the donation possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Here are a few pictures including one with Leanne with one of the many volunteers, who accepted our donation on their behalf.

As the year draws to a close, the team at Stellar Despatch is truly embracing the spirit of the season by supporting our local food banks in both Waterlooville and Bristol. This Christmas, we want to help ensure that more families in our community can enjoy a festive meal and have essential supplies during what can be a challenging period.

Introducing two new colleagues, Leanne & Ian

Allow us to introduce you to Leanne Hartshorn and Ian Voegeli, who have recently joined the Stellar family.

Leanne, based in our Waterlooville office is a Customer Service Manager, who joins us with over 15 years experience of the same day courier industry. In her spare time loves walking, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Ian, based in our Bristol office as a Business Development Manager, who also joins us with many years of courier and logistics experience. Ian is an avid supporter of Bristol Rovers and follows Manchester City, loves a curry, music (goes to gigs regularly) and spending time with his family.

We wish them every success in their new roles.

We are pleased to announce the winners of our Halloween competition for this year as being, Janet from a print company in the Bristol area and Lauren from the NHS in the Portsmouth area. Well done both of you.

There were 79 eyes in the picture of the pumpkins, all correct answers placed in a "hat" and two drawn. Thanks to everyone that joined in the fun and made guesses, most of which were near the number. Sorry if you didn't win.

Unfortunately neither Janet or Lauren were available to receive their gifts, but Stella the ghost and Chelsie stepped in respectively, to accept the prizes for their colleagues.

A very warm welcome to Amy Simmons, who recently joined Stellar Despatch as part of our finance team.

Amy has been involved in office administration and finance in her previous employment roles and has fitted in really quickly.

Stellar Does Movember!

This November, the Stellar Despatch boys want to have a bit of fun while raising awareness of some important health issues: prostate/testicular cancer, men’s mental health, and suicide prevention.

We are supporting the Movember campaign by letting our facial hair run wild and documenting our progress on social media each Monday in November - all for a great cause. Though we may not appear as our most tidy selves, we want to spread the word of the importance in men being open. Our task is to challenge the taboo of sharing what we are feeling and ensuring we are checking our bodies regularly for any signs of abnormalities.

Movember are an amazing global charity and we hope you can help us in raising a little bit of money for them. Our link for donations will be posted on our social media channels and we hope our customers can support us in any way they can - be it a donation, a like, or a share. Let's do this!

Stellar Staff Hat Trick

There have been lots of exciting things happen with our Stellar Despatch staff members in recent weeks.

Gwynn, our Operations Manager in Bristol, welcomed her first child into the world last month. Mother and daughter Mabel are doing perfectly and we wanted to wish her all the luck in the world whilst she departs us temporarily for maternity leave. We hope Gwynn enjoys this special time as a new family.

Beth, our Account Manager in Waterlooville, appeared this week on the new BBC gameshow The Answer Run. Competing with her sister Em, she managed to bag a £5700 prize - so the office treats are on her for the next month! Congratulations Beth!

Finally for a female-driven hat trick, our Operations Assistant, Taryn returns this week following her maternity leave. We are all very happy to welcome her back in the office to brighten up our days again with her bubbly nature.

National Tree Day 2024

Doing our bit for a sustainable future

Today marks National Tree Day 2024 . At Stellar Despatch, we are proud to be part of the movement of companies partnering with Ecologi to track how our contribution can have a long and lasting impact on our precious planet.

Over the past two years, our funding has directly supported over 30 climate projects all over the world, to name a few:

Using waste biomass to produce electricity in China
Solar PV electricity generation in Indonesia
Improving the efficiency of Metro transport in India
Solar power project in Morocco
Conserving the Amazon in Brazil

As of July 2024, Stellar have funded a total of planting 1,998 new trees and avoided 168 tons of harmful CO2 emissions polluting the environment. We love being able to track the progress of our donation to this special cause. With these efforts, we feel extremely lucky to play a part in generating change and securing a cleaner and greener environment for future generations to be able to thrive in.

Stellar Despatch are supporting Bunzl Catering Supplies with a donation for their upcoming ‘SHINE Games’.

This inaugural event will raise much-needed funds for their chosen charities, Nia Children's Foundation , Mind , and Cancer Research UK . Their target is to reach £12,000, with over 500 employees taking part in a plethora of sporting activities.

Happy 7 Years, Mark!

We are very happy with this milestone! Our wonderful driver, Mark Dowdell celebrates his 7th year with us this month. Mark began helping with various courier postings back in 2017 - doesn't time fly by! He has shown himself to be an extremely dedicated and loyal individual who always puts the hours in and ensures Stellar Despatch's impeccable reputation. We all love in particular the sunny demeanour he radiates each day! We were happy to present Mark with a gift card as a big thanks for all of his hard work over the past several years. We recently launched our Easter Stellar Despatch competition which involved guessing our Easter bunny's weight and name.

In first place was Sean from Havant who correctly guessed our exact Easter bunny's weight as...��.��. His bonus guess of "Parsnip" as her name - although incorrect - did make us chuckle!

Our runners-up were Melissa from Emsworth and Ashley from Fareham, who both correctly guessed the name of...��!

Although Pippa (or Pip as we like to call her) found it bang out of order all of you guessing her weight (!!) she hopes you had fun and that the winners and runners-up enjoy their treats.
